  • Meet 3 local Korcula Island producers to learn more about island life
  • Try a range of honey all produced on the island using local bees!
  • Sample the island’s gin production, which uses ingredients from Korcula
  • Taste the refreshing Grk wine which is grown almost exclusively in the village of Lumbarda
  • Learn how locally grown produce is turned into delicious sweet treats, preserves and brandies

Just a short trip from Korcula and you will arrive at our first stop on the tour, one of the region’s top honey producers. Here you will learn how honey gets from the beehives to jars and what makes it taste different. You will also get to sample the honey producer’s latest delicious product using local ingredients – gin!

You’ll continue the transfer a little further to the village of Lumbarda to enjoy one of Korcula’s most famous products, its wine, at a family run winery. Your tasting includes the acclaimed and little known white wine, Grk, as well as Plavac Mali (a red wine produced through-out Dalmatia with ties to American Zinfandel). All wines are paired with tasty regional snacks.

Leaving the winery, you will take a short 10-15 minute scenic walk before arriving at the final destination to sweeten up your taste-buds. At the home of the jovial Ivan & Ana, you will taste an array of delicious homemade products including olive oil, preserves, sweet treats, Croatian rakija (brandy), domestic wine and to top the tour off, pancakes (crepe-style) with jam. After we bid our new friends farewell, you’ll return back to Korcula.

Tracey, June 2024 “Rachel was superb. Very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. A great way to experience some true Croatia.”

Tim, May 2024 “I was solo travelling and wanted to do something to remember and have an experience of Korcula. Rachael was so welcoming, right from booking to meeting up for the afternoon out. It group was lovely and the perfect mix of international travellers looking for a relaxing afternoon.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect but after the initial welcome and the first stop for honey and gin tasting, it was clear this was going to be interesting, relaxing and most importantly, fun. Our second stop was for wine tasting and a delicious savoury platter. Catering for dietary requirements was also no trouble.

The wine flowed and the group fell into random conversations about this and that, all the time, our hosts gave us great information about the family business and the wine production.

After a short walk, our final stop was with Ivan and his family. More wine, brandy, jams, treats and pancakes! At each stop, we were all welcomed by our hosts who engaged with the group rather than just serving.

The afternoon was a delight and we even overran by soonish an hour just because, that’s the Croatian way! Much thanks to Rachael and everyone involved.

Steven, May 2024 “Very enjoyable food and wine tour. Small group, everyone friendly and we had a great laugh about all our holiday’s experiences. Guests even attempted to learn our Yorkshire dialect! Would recommend the tour to everyone and was very well organised and run by our up-standing and erect (🤣) English host Rachel.”

Joan, May 2024 “So pleased we were able to join this tour. Very well organised. We all had great fun, learnt a lot and tasted some lovely local food and drink directly from the producers. So much more
than just a wine tasting tour although the wine was good!”

Remy – Summer 2023The Taste of Korcula tour definitely made our stay on Korcula even more memorable!

Our tour was by taxi bus which was nice. The cycling tour also sounded good, but because of the heat, my partner and I preferred a bit of comfort. We booked our tour a few days ahead and shared the tour with four other lovely people 🙂 People from the US, Sicily and the Netherlands so plenty of interesting stories to share. Rachael was our tour guide and boy was she good! She is extremely knowledgeable about the island itself and all the fantastic products you will taste. But any subject surely will end up in a nice conversation.

I was worried that during such a tour, you’d rush through all the places and be done with it. But that’s certainly not the case! First we visited a honey and gin producer who was also really nice. There you can taste all sorts of amazing things. A fun surprise there for any Dutch person 😏

We then went to the Cipre winery (Others were closed because of a local celebration, so you might visit a different winery). We tasted several wines made from the finest and rare Lumbarda grapes! Paired with delicious cheeses, figs, meats and bread. You will not want to leave without a few bottles 😉 Here we also had plenty of time to enjoy the great views, strike up conversations and taste all the wonderful products.

We finished the tour at a local home of Ivan & Ana. Upon entry you’re greeted by Ruby who loves a good pat on the head. Then you move to the nice seating area where you’ll be spoiled with all sorts of goodness. Ivan was a fantastic host and made sure we’ve got to taste every single product he makes before we took our leave again. Make sure to taste the figs and the olive oils, those were godlike! Perhaps snatch a bottle of oil and a few jars of jam!

Rachael, you we’re wonderful! Thank you. This island is one we will surely recommend”

Susanne – Summer 2023 “Really fun walking/wine/local food tasting tour. John is fun and made our experience feel like we were with a group of friends. Short drive to a couple of tasting places, then short walk to a winery. Gin, honey, sweets, wine, cheese! This was a fun time and we highly recommend booking a tour with Korcula Explorer.”

Brian – Summer 2022 “We did the Taste of Korcula tour and had a great time!  Rachel brought us to 3 different spots but she let the food/wine/brandy/honey/gin makers tell their story about how they produce and make their products and she added on some extra Info.

It was all delicious, fun and informative.  I would for sure recommend Korcula Explorer for any of their tours. we even did their self guided bike ride through Lumbarda and it was another highlight of our trip, just taking our time biking around the island enjoying the route they set out for you.”

Ruth – Summer 2022 “We did the food and wine tour with Rachael as our guide. She was a fountain of knowledge on all things in Korcula and extremely pleasant and helpful in all communications. I found the Korcula guide extremely helpful when planning our trip to Korcula.”
