We start our tour in Croatia’s most famous destination, Dubrovnik. Following check in and a brief introduction, we start as we mean to go on with a walking food tour of Dubrovnik’s magnificent walled old town. With plenty of food and drink, this will be a great way to start enjoying your holiday and to get to know other travellers in the group.
After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, we head to Korcula Island via the Peljesac Peninsula, which is famed for it’s red wine and oysters. After a scenic ride to Mali Ston, we will stop here and take a walk along the stunning walls that connect it to it’s larger neighbour Ston. Once in Ston we revitalise ourselves with lunch including a starter of the world class local oysters. Following lunch we head further along the peninsular to one of our favourite wineries for a tour of the winery and tasting including some glorious “Plavac Mali” red wines, which the region is well known for.
After our wine tasting we will take a short boat ride across to our home, Island of Korcula, where you will check in and and spend the evening at your leisure.
Feeling wonderfully rested, after breakfast we take to the water for a morning boating around the crystal clear waters of the Korcula archipelago. Stopping for swimming and snorkelling at 2 breathtaking spots, we then enjoy a fish lunch grilled for us on the boat washed down with our boat captain’s own family made wine.
After lunch you have the afternoon free before we reconvene for more fun and indulgence. This evening we will head out to the countryside and visit one of the island’s fantastic family run agroturism restaurants. Here we will sit down to a dinner of the region’s most famous and delicious dishes “peka”. Peka is a slow cooked meat dish with potatoes and vegetables. On our tour it is a mix of veal and lamb, cooked under a metal lid shaped like a bell over hot embers on the BBQ. Yum, all washed down with the owners own wine produce. We should sleep well tonight!
After breakfast, it’s back on the water as we take a short catamaran ride to the neighbouring Island of Mljet for a day exploring the glorious national park. We start by taking a stroll into the park, then we hop into 2 person canoes for a leisurely paddle across the lakes to the island monastery where we will stop for lunch. After lunch and exploring the island, we canoe back across the lakes. Enjoy free time relaxing and swimming in this truly special setting, before walking back to catch the catamaran to Korcula.
This evening we head out for a spot of beer tasting at the island’s only brewery. Here we will learn about the beer making process from the master brewer and try several of his beers, as well as a few of the country’s best offerings. All accompanied by a good dinner to compliment our beer.
After breakfast and checkout, we are taking you on a wine tasting tour of the island. We first head inland to Smokvica to try “Posip” (a local white wine variety) at one of the island’s top producers. Next, we stop for lunch at one of the island’s best seafood restaurants right on the water, before heading to the village of Lumbarda to try the island’s other famous and delicious white wine, “Grk”. The wines, views and food today are all so good!
Later this afternoon we board another local catamaran and take a ride to the coastal town of Omis, nestled on the mountainous Makarska riviera. You have a free evening to enjoy the town.
Following breakfast and checkout, today we are going rafting down the beautiful river Cetina. A drive up into the mountains above Omis takes us to the starting point where a full briefing will be given and we will meet our professional guide, before we set off on our steady ride down the river. No experience is required and with great spots to swim and some easy rapids along the way, this is a fun experience for all. At the end point of the tour is a good spot to grab lunch (not included) before we take our transfer to our final destination, Split. After check in you have some time to yourselves to explore the historic surroundings of the city before we get together for a tasty dinner at one of our favourite places in Split.
Today we are going on a tour of Split’s incredible, historic city and it’s markets to buy ingredients. We then head for a cooking class with a top local chef to learn how to prepare and cook a traditional local dish using the fantastic produce the region and the sea provides. It will all depend on your preferences and what’s available in the markets. After our lunch you are free again to enjoy Split before we get together in the evening for our final celebratory dinner.
After breakfast we will say our farewells to the group!
